Thick Green Smoothie Recipe

This smoothie is a powerhouse of plant nutrients that have such positive effects on skin health and vitality, and also provide the fiber and protein to help keep you satiated and fired up through the morning. This creamy recipe includes ripe avocado and nut butter that are both known for their high polyunsaturated fat content, the essential fatty acids found in these plants that help to keep our skin cells moisturized, plumped and optimized from the inside out. And it gets better! Supercharging this smoothie are the green chlorophyll pigments or phytochemicals. Not only do they bring vibrant color, but they also have skin-healing and immune-supporting properties – another win for calm, glowing skin.

      INGREDIENTS
      ½ cup blueberries 
      ½ cup almond or coconut milk 
      ½ avocado
      ½ cup baby spinach
      ½ cup ice
      1 tsp maca powder or vanilla vegan protein powder (optional)
      1 tbsp nut butter (I use almond butter)
      1 pinch salt

          METHOD
          Blend all ingredients in a blender and add any toppings you like (extra coconut flakes or crushed almonds work well).
